Winter Can Be Fun!

Toronto - This winter when most are indoors avoiding the frigid temperatures or cringing about all the snow they have to shovel, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto is preparing for Winter Fun! On Saturday, February 23rd, thanks to the generosity of Capital One, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto will celebrate their Winter Carnival at Mel Lastman Square.

BIG Fun at the 10th Annual BIG Ski

Toronto - For 10 years Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto has been hitting the slopes for a BIG cause and thanks to all of the snow this winter, the hills are in the perfect shape for skiing! On Thursday, February 28th at Caledon Ski Club, Bigs, Littles and the community will enjoy a day of great skiing, snowboarding, races, family activities, auctions, raffles and more!

Toronto - In March as we celebrate International Women’s Week and Canada’s Nutrition Month, the Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds program continues to help girls transition into women who make healthy eating, self-esteem and physical activity choices.

Banks Bowl for Kids Sake!

Toronto - On Saturday, March 29th Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBST) of Toronto will celebrate the annual Bowl For Kids Sake (BFKS) Bank Day with over 800 bowlers from BMO, CIBC, RBC, Scotia Bank and TD.
Toronto - Over 2,000 people joined in Toronto’s Earth Hour celebrations on Saturday night at the Ontario Science Centre. In addition to turning off many of the lights in its buildings, parking lots and TELUSCAPE from 8pm to 9pm, the Science Centre attracted participants with a free Star Party.
Toronto - Residents are invited to the St. Lawrence Market Complex on April 3 for a night of free entertainment, food sampling and book signing.
Toronto - Toronto Public Health has reported six cases of measles in the Toronto area within the past month. Several of these cases had also visited the Science Centre. The Ontario Science Centre has been working closely with Toronto Public Health to monitor the risks of exposure to measles for visitors and employees.
Toronto - For decades Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto (BBBST) has been making a difference in the lives of children and youth through their mentoring programs. As we approach National Volunteer Week (April 27th – May 3rd), BBBST celebrates our many volunteers and all of the magic that they bring to Toronto’s children and youth!

The Magic of In-School Mentoring

Toronto - One more month left of school and as children say goodbye to their teachers, close to 200 will say farewell to their school mentors. Another school year comes to an end with these children looking forward to the fall where new memories will be made with their Big Brother or Big Sister.
