Toronto - Toronto Public Library presents 'Stage Struck: 100 Years at the Royal Alex', a gallery exhibition celebrating the 100th birthday of King Street's theatrical grand dame, the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
Toronto - At a special meeting yesterday, the Toronto Public Library Board approved the implementation of cost containment measures that will result in operating budget savings of $1.2 million by year-end. These measures are in response to the City of Toronto's request to generate savings to be put toward reducing its 2008 operating budget shortfall.
Toronto - Toronto Public Library recently added Somali and Tamil stories to the Dial A Story (416-395-5400) phone line. Dial A Story, Toronto Public Library's telephone story service for children, answered almost 300,000 calls last year.  That's 800 happy callers a day!   
Toronto - On Sat. Sept. 29, Toronto Public Library, Art Gallery of Ontario, The Bata Shoe Museum, Gardiner Museum and Textile Museum of Canada transform the Reference Library into an interactive arts space, as they each present an original art installation. This 'art à la carte' program, taking place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., is part of this year's Scotiabank Nuit Blanche festivities.
Toronto - On Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 8 p.m. in the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books, (Lillian H. Smith Branch, 239 College Street), Dr. Andrew Biswell will deliver the 1st Annual Sybille Pantazzi Memorial Lecture. The topic is Edward Gorey: His Antecedents and Affinities.  
Toronto - On October 9th, Toronto Public Library kicks off its autumn Canada Council Heritage Series, Degrees of Nowhere: A Geography of Canadian Writing at Palmerston Branch Auditorium.
Toronto - Famous fans of the Toronto Reference Library are singing its praises in a new initiative sponsored by the Toronto Public Library Foundation. Look Who's in the Stacks is a poster campaign featuring testimonials by seven prominent Torontonians.
Toronto - Members of the public are invited to help continue to shape the upcoming major renovation of Cedarbrae Branch, one of Toronto's busiest branches, by participating in an open house on Thursday, October 25, 2007.
Toronto - Toronto Public Library's annual Young Voices Writers Conference, Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North York Central Library will give Toronto youth an opportunity to hone their creative writing skills and to learn strategies for getting published.
Toronto - In celebration of Toronto Reference Library's 30th anniversary, Toronto Public Library presents Collected Works: a Public Legacy, a gallery exhibition and featured programming showcasing the library's special collections from Saturday, October 20 to Monday, December 31, 2007.
