On Thursday, April 10, 2008 the Toronto Police Service received numerous complaints from residents in the area of Leslie Street and York Mills Road concerning mail that was delivered to their homes.

It is reported that:
- the letters are postmarked from Spain and are addressed to the home owner,
- the letters are from a bank manager in Spain, and tell the home owner that there is a safety deposit box in Spain containing $77.7 million dollars and that the owner of the box was killed in a train accident,
- the home owner is told that they share the same last name as the owner of the safety deposit box and that arrangements can be made to share the money in the safety deposit box with the bank manager.

The Toronto Police Service is warning members of the public that these letters are not legitimate. Do not to contact any of the phone or fax numbers on the letter as this is a fraudulent scam.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3304, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or online at http://www.222tips.com/.
