Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is saddened to announce the loss of one of the CFL's finest recruiters in J.I. Albrecht. Albrecht passed away at the age of 77 in Toronto on Tuesday.

Albrecht, whose career spanned over 40 years and saw stops in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa, first joined the Argonauts organization in 1976 as the club's general manager and director of player personnel. During his first tenure with the club, he helped recruit stars such as Anthony Davis, Mathew Reed and Peter Gabriel to Toronto.

In 2000, Albrecht re-joined the Argonauts as a Managing Director and helped start the coaching career of former player and current club CEO Michael "Pinball" Clemons.
