The Ontario Science Centre offers a wide variety of adventures and experiences for visitors of all ages. In addition to hundreds of amazing exhibits and IMAX® films, special programming is set to take place throughout the Science Centre during March Break. March Break hours are as follows: Friday, March 7 to Saturday March 15 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.and Sunday March 16, 9:00am to 6:00 pm.Note: all programming is free with admission.

Programs

The Science Centre’s regular daily demonstrations will happen throughout various exhibition halls such as papermaking in the Living Earth Hall and the popular electricity demo in the Science Arcade as well as HotSpots and Challenge Zones in the Weston Family Innovation Centre. Special programming will also be offered during the March break period including:

  • Spaced Out!Marvel at the amazing tricks and stunts of Greg & Kristi as they explore our solar system. This is a chance to laugh so hard you won’t realize you are learning.

Weekends: 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm

Location: Imperial Oil auditorium, Level A

  • Survivor Mars – An interactive game show exploring the science of space exploration and survival. Two teams of audience members compete by performing a series of challenges to outwit, outplay and outlast on Mars.

Weekdays: 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, 4:30pm

Weekends: 12:00noon & 4:00pm

Location: Proctor & Gamble Great Hall, level B

  • Science Magic –See things smash, burn and explode at this special show, bringing together the Science Centre’s most magical and popular science demonstrations.

Weekdays: 10:00am, 12:00noon, 1:30pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm

Weekends: 11:30pm, 1:30pm, 5:30pm

*March 16 last show is at 3:30pm

Location: Studio 2, Level B

  • Cool Science Discover the science of ultra-cold, see how a flower can shatter into a million pieces with a flick of a finger and how gases become fluids at extreme temperatures.

Weekdays: 10:30pm, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:30pm

Weekends: 10:30pm & 2:30pm

Location: Studio 3, Level B

  • Firefighters –Learn how to prevent and detect fires. Also learn about the “low and go” technique on how to escape a fire. What a great chance to check out some of the Fire Department’s equipment and meet some of Toronto’s bravest fire crews.

Weekdays: 9:00am to 3:30pm Firefighters will be in the Great Hall mezzanine, level A

1:00pm to 3:00pm Firefighters will be in TELUSCAPE (front entrance)

Weekends: NO PROGRAM

Exhibitions

Both permanent and special exhibitions are always popular. The best way to avoid line-ups is to book tickets online ahead of time.

  • Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

The tragic tale of the famous ship Titanic is brought to life through photographs, sounds and stories of the passengers and crew members. The exhibition includes over 280 artifacts recovered from the wreckage site, 3,800-metres below the surface of the north Atlantic.

Location: Special Exhibition Hall, Level D

Price: Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is a timed ticketed exhibition with a premium

admission price of: $29.50 for adults, $23.50 for seniors (65+) and youths (13-17) and $19.50 for

children, which include admission to the Science Centre.

  • Space Hall

The newly renovated Space Hall, is where visitors can see a real Moon rock, pilot a rocket chair, take a tour of the solar system narrated by Canadian astronaut Julie Payette, find out why astronauts float in space and launch a spacecraft to Saturn.

  • KidSpark area features play, building, water and music activities especially created for children eight years old and younger to explore with their parents or caregivers.

Location: Level C

  • Weston Family Innovation Centre

The Weston Family Innovation Centre features more than 50 new experiences which will have you building, exploring, creating and problem-solving, tinkering, as you learn the skills, attitudes and behaviours of innovation. Design for 14 and up.

Location: Level D

OMNIMAX THEATRE

The only domed theatre in Ontario, the Shoppers Drug Mart® OMNIMAX® Theatre wraps 24 metres of image and 13,000 watts of sound around the viewer. Thrill the senses with daily screenings of IMAX® films

  • Hurricane on the Bayou

This newIMAX® filmwill carry audiences on a journey deep into the heart of Louisiana — before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.

  • DEEPSEA

Plunge beneath the ocean’s surface to discover some of the strangest and most exotic creatures on the planet.

Times: 10:00am, 12:00noon, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm
