Toronto - On Saturday, February 16th Toronto will be bowling for a BIG cause at the 2008 Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto’s Bowl For Kids Sake Community Day. This year for the first time, thanks to the generosity of Nintendo, bowlers can play with the classic bowling ball or go virtual with Nintendo’s Wii!. Virtual bowling will be set up for players to compete for the best scores with a chance to win some great prizes.  Bowlers can also purchase tickets to the grand raffle for a chance to win a Nintendo Wii!

“It made perfect sense to partner with Nintendo during our Bowl For Kids Sake events. Bowling is a classic game that both young and old enjoy and the Nintendo Wii bowling takes our events to another level of fun! Our Bigs and Littles are really enjoying this new element and we are sure the community will too – especially whoever wins the Wii in the grand raffle!” says Cathy Denyer, President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto.

Bowl For Kids Sake is the biggest fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto (BBBST) – last year they raised over 250,000 and hope to raise 300,000 in 2008. The funds raised will help BBBST continue the important work they do – making a difference by matching volunteers with children and youth who would benefit from a mentor and friend.

research has shown that our success in matching children with a Big Brother or Big Sister has made a positive and lasting difference in their lives. The power and impact of these relationships affect so many aspects of a child’s life:

Improved grades
-
Better personal relationships
-
Improved self-image and confidence
-
Less likely to use alcohol and other drugs
