Toronto - Do you find yourself speeding up for amber lights? Unable to clear intersections? Driving in H.O.V. lanes? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it's time to slow down and remember the rules of the road.

The daily commute into and out of Toronto involves approximately 1.2 million vehicles. All road users share the responsibility of making the daily commute safe. Commuter frustration often results in aggressive driving, disobeying traffic lights, misuse of H.O.V. lanes, illegal parking and gridlock. This initiative will pay close attention to motorist, cyclist, and pedestrian safety.

The Toronto Police Service will conduct a zero-tolerance enforcement campaign, Operation – Safe Commute, starting on Monday, January 28, 2008 and finishing on Friday, February 1, 2008. The goals are to ensure public compliance and encourage safe driving habits.
