Toronto - Over the past week, cooler temperatures have brought a considerable amount of snow to the city.
In the coming days, Environment Canada is forecasting milder temperatures, along with rain.
These milder temperatures will cause snow to melt and may cause the river and stream systems in the city to swell, resulting in fast-moving water and dangerous swift currents.
The Toronto Police Service Marine Unit would like to warn people to be mindful of the extremely dangerous conditions caused when rivers flood and particular the vulnerability of children who are often attracted to the water's edge.
Parents are strongly urged to ensure their children's safety at all times and to explain the dangers of ice over water.
