Toronto - Once again Toronto Crime Stoppers was presented with awards at this year’s Crime Stoppers International conference held in Bermuda.

Toronto was recognized with six honours acknowledging outstanding achievement by the media and for exceptional productivity.

Other programs receiving multiple awards were Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk & Tillsonburg who was presented with six awards and the Crime Stoppers program of Hamilton also earned six awards from Crime Stoppers International the umbrella organization overseeing Crime Stoppers world wide.

Awards to Toronto recognized CFRB 1010 for preparing the Best Radio Special Reports/Features and Flow 93.5 for Best Radio Crime of the Week.

City TV was acknowledged for the Best Television Crime of the Week, while the Toronto Sun received Best Newspaper Special Reports/Features.

Toronto also received recognition for having the greatest increase in arrests last year compared to the previous year in communities with populations between two and five million and for the greatest increase in total property recovered.

Entries for the awards are submitted by local programs to Crime Stoppers International and winners in the various categories are chosen by independent judging panels.
