Toronto Blue Jays RHP ROY HALLADAY, a unanimous selection by the Toronto chapter of the BBWAA as the clubs Pitcher of the Year highlights the list of 2008 winners. OF ALEX RIOS was honoured as the Player of the Year, RHP JESSE LITSCH captured Rookie of the Year honours, while RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN was selected as Most Improved. This seasons recipient of the John Cerutti Award was Blue Jays SS JOHN McDONALD.

HALLADAY, 30, was selected first on all ballots. He posted a 16-7 record with a 3.71 ERA in 31 starts in 2007. The Denver, Colorado native led MLB with seven complete games and now ranks 4th on the Blue Jays all-time list with 111 victories. The BBWAA has now selected Halladay five times for the award and five of the last six seasons.

RIOS
, 26, received the Neil MacCarl award, named after the longtime baseball writer from the Toronto Star, representing the clubs Player of the Year. The 6'5", 194 lb. outfielder set career highs in most offensive categories, most notably with 43 doubles, seven triples, 24 homeruns and 85 RBI. The resident of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico was once selected as the Rookie-of-the-year and Most Improved in recent seasons by the BBWAA.

LITSCH
, 25, posted a 7-9 record with an excellent 3.81 ERA in 20 starts. The Pinellas Park, Florida native made his ML debut in style, May 15 vs. Baltimore, tossing 8 2/3 innings and allowing only four hits in a 2-1 win. It represented the longest ML debut of any Blue Jay starter in the franchises history.

McGOWAN
, 25, picked up the award for Most Improved Player. The Savannah, Georgia native posted a 12-10 record with a 4.08 ERA in his first full season in the majors. He tossed two complete games highlighted by one-hitter on June 24 vs. Colorado. He became only the 6th pitcher in Blue Jays history to carry a no-hitter into the ninth inning. The 6'3", 220 lb. right-hander was dominant vs. RH hitters to a .198 avg. allowing only 10 extra base hits.

This seasons recipient of the John Cerutti Award is SS JOHN McDONALD. The award is given annually to the person associated with day-to-day workings of Blue Jays baseball who displays goodwill, cooperation and character as exemplified by the late John Cerutti.
