Toronto - Members of the public are invited to view the plans for the upcoming expansion and relocation of Cliffcrest Branch by participating in a community open house on Tuesday, December 4, 2007.

Date: Tuesday, December 4, 2007
Time: 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Place: Cliffcrest Branch, Cliffcrest Plaza, 2977 Kingston Road

Toronto Public Library staff and consultants from McKinnon Design will be on hand to unveil plans for the expansion and provide information about the relocation of the Cliffcrest Branch.

Members of the public who are unable to attend the meeting can fill out a comment form, available at the branch or on the library website.

Scheduled for completion by February 2008, the Cliffcrest Branch will relocate to a new unit in the same plaza and also:

  • Expand the branch's space from 2,800 to 4,900 square feet, an increase of 75%.
  • Feature recent, popular reading and audio visual materials (including bestsellers, CDs, magazines and DVDs), creating Toronto Public Library's first "browsing branch".
  • Introduce new wireless Internet access and additional public PC workstations.
  • Add a public meeting and program room that doubles as quiet study space.
  • Add new space for exhibiting local art.
  • Add reading lounges for adults, teens and children.
  • Add interior and exterior book-drops for quick library material returns.
  • Add express check-out.
