Two Toronto men charged in telecommunications investigation

In September 2007, police received information on the cloning of internet modems.
It is alleged that:
- during the investigation, undercover officers were able to purchase modems which were cloned, providing free internet access.
- on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, two search warrants were executed at a home on Johnston Avenue and Sheppard Avenue West,
- a large quantity of pirated movies, music CDs, video games, satellite receivers and modem were seized.
Michael Wong, 29, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) four counts of Possession of Device to Obtain Telecommunication Services,
2) three counts of Sell Device to Obtain Telecommunication Services,
3) eight counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over,
4) four counts of Fraud Over,
5) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under,
6) Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
Jeremy Coffin , 31, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) two counts of Possession of Device to Obtain Telecommunication Services,
2) three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over,
3) four counts of Fraud Over,
4) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under.
The two men appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, October 4, 2007.
