14 Young Offenders charged with swarming robberies

Between mid−July and August 2007, a series of swarming robberies occurred within 13, 14, 53, and 55 Divisions.

A total of 198 charges have been laid again 14 young offenders, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The charges laid are a result of 15 robbery occurrences, in which there were 27 victims.

It is alleged that:
− the accused would approach their victims on the street, in parks or within the subway system,
− the accused would assault their victims and make demands for cash and valuables,
− the victims sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts and bruising to broken bones.
