The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday their 23 player roster that will participate in a four-day Rookie Tournament at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The players will take part in four games beginning Friday, September 7 versus prospect teams from the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Prospects attending the rookie tournament include Maple Leafs’ 2007 draft choices Dale Mitchell (first choice, 74th overall) and Christopher DiDomenico (fifth choice, 164th overall).  Also playing in the tournament are Jiri Tlusty, the Maple Leafs first round choice in 2006 and goaltender Justin Pogge, who completed his first season of professional hockey in 2006-07 with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.  A total of eight players participating in the rookie tournament for the Maple Leafs saw some action with the Toronto Marlies last season.

Toronto Marlies head coach Greg Gilbert, along with assistant coaches Joe Paterson and Jim Hughes, will be behind the Maple Leafs bench for the tournament.
