Toronto - The Toronto Fire Services Pipes and Drums took part in a parade and band competition at the Orillia Scottish Festival on Saturday July 21, placing third amongst 23 Ontario bands.

Fire Chief William Stewart looked on proudly as the Pipes and Drums that represented his Fire Service marched by. “This is quite an accomplishment to place so highly,” Stewart said. “This being their first ever competition proves that there is tremendous discipline both individually and in a team effort.”

The Toronto Fire Services Pipes and Drums was established in 1998. The band was conceived by a firefighter as a traditional means of representing the Fire Service. The band comprises mostly of Toronto firefighters from all divisions who proudly wear the Toronto Fire Services Tartan.

The band regularly attends recruit graduations, promotional presentations, award ceremonies, department funerals and any other fire fighting related functions, as well as parades and community events.
